About Us
Our philosophy
Hi and welcome! We are James and Sarah Nunley (Doc). We met in the military in 1998 and were married in 1999. While we both started out in similar career paths, military police to civilian police, our paths eventually found their true calling with Sarah becoming a Dr of Psychology and licensed mental health professional and James continuing a long 30-year career in law enforcement. We have two daughters, one located here in Middle Tennessee and one currently in Colorado in the US Army.
We are invested in our Tennessee community and giving back to those who give everything by way of first responders, military and community members impacted by trauma. We are a Christian husband and wife team with farm helpers who are here to honor the need for restoration and recovery. We offer many different things such as our core programs, Regulate and Restore and Reset, both trademarked to our farm. We also offer community farm programs such as animal-assisted yoga, seasonal events with our farm animals and therapeutic sessions for individuals and organizations. Regardless as to how you found us, we are HONORED that you are here and can’t wait to meet you. We truly have something for everyone.
The Land is Part of the Work
On 40 acres of mixed pasture and forested land, we have something for everyone. We incorporate mindfulness, guided meditation, forest walks, and equine trail rides throughout our property in an effort of making our programs unique and purposeful. We want people to come here to enjoy the healing journey on healing land and with healing animals and people right beside you.
*Disclaimer* Because many of our offerings are outdoors, we would be remiss to share that we occupy this farm with nature. This means we have animals with different temperaments and attitudes just like you and us. We also have bugs, some that stings and bite. We take every precaution to ensure each guests’ safety on the farm. If you have any extensive or life-threatening allergies, fears, phobias- Please discuss this with our staff BEFORE coming on property. We want to make sure your time here is healing and restorative. We can often times find alternatives to our programming to accommodate guests.

Our Values
Nunley Family Farm has been a dream of Dr. Sarah’s since she was a little girl. She has always had a love for animals and helping people. Since moving back to James’ home state of Tennessee, this dream was able to be realized. We are a faith-filled family and believe that all things are accomplished through Christ-first. While we do not utilize biblical curriculum in our work and we welcome all people to our farm programs, our core foundation is always rooted in Christian faith.
Our farm is built on a foundation of service to the brave men and women who protect our nation. As military veterans and members of the LEO community we strive to give back to those that protect the freedoms of all Americans. This includes all community members having experienced trauma, not just service members. Our farm values are simply these:
Faith
Honor
Service
Restoration
“ Resilience is not what happens to you. It’s how you react to, respond to, and recover from what happens to you“ —Jeffrey Gitomer
“Trauma creates dysregulation you did not choose. Healing and regulation are about inviting back what you do choose with the understanding that some days will still be hard, and some days will be so much better than the last. The key is to hold onto the better days- we deserve those days”.
- Dr Sarah
